On Legends of Tomorrow recently, Mick Rory/Heatwave (Dominic Purcell) has been seeing visions of his deceased friend Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) appearing and speaking to him. What stands out here though is that last summer, when it was announced Legends would be introducing the Legion of Doom (including Malcolm Merlyn, Reverse-Flash and Damien Darhk), Captain Cold was included on the list of members. However, so far, the Legion of Doom has been operating without Snart, while his appearances have only been in relation to Rory.
But that will change soon, promises Legends of Tomorrow co-creator/EP Marc Guggenheim, who told me Captain Cold is still going to join the Legion. In advance of tonight’s new episode – pointedly titled “The Legion of Doom” – Guggenheim explained the plan for Captain Cold and a bit more on what’s to come, including the upcoming episode “Camelot/3000,” whose title clearly references the Mike W. Barr/Brian Bolland limited series Camelot 3000 from the 1980s.
IGN: With Snart, it seemed like Rory’s issues might be resolved as far as seeing him. But last summer at Comic-Con, it was announced that Snart would be a member of the Legion of Doom. Is that still on the table?
Marc Guggenheim: You know what, I’ll say it. I don’t mind spoiling this. Captain Cold definitely will become a member of the Legion of Doom. What we wanted to do was the first time we saw Snart we wanted to defy expectations. But now that we’ve done that, we definitely want to go through with our original plan. We are going to go through with our original plan of making him a member of the Legion of Doom. So much of this show is about surprising the audience. We thought it would be fun for an episode to bring Snart back in a way that everyone was not expecting.
