There may not be much of a break for Prison Break fans after Fox airs its nine-episode reboot next year.

When Wentworth Miller stopped by EW’s lounge at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, he admitted the right idea could keep him in Michael Scofield’s tattoos for even longer.

“If the story was worth telling — that’s the only reason I signed up to this nine-episode reboot,” he said when asked about extending his stay on Prison. “We want to do something that’s going to stand beside what came before. If we can’t do it right, best not to do it at all. So if Fox or [creator] Paul Scheuring or whoever came to me and said, ‘We have another idea for another installment beyond this one,’ I’d be interested in listening.”

For now, though, Miller promises the upcoming installment will feature “more of what you loved. There’s prison, action-adventure, themes of brotherhood and loyalty and sacrifice, but it also does feel very topical. It’s meant to feel like this is happening out there in the world today.”

That “action-adventure” part is some of why the season has been compared to Homer’s The Odyssey. “There’s definitely some nods to the classical, to Greek mythology, and my character is like the character in The Odyssey, on a quest which is to get home,” Miller said. “At this point in the narrative… he’s been part of this big bad operation organization, and it’s left it’s mark on him. So, my character’s big objective is to get home to my wife, to the son that I’ve never met, but the question is, once I get there, will I still be recognizable? Will I still be the man that my wife fell in love with?”

Prison Break returns to Fox in 2017.
