IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Releasing today announced that Resident Evil: Afterlife, the fourth installment of the popular film series based on the video game, will be released to digital IMAX theatres simultaneously with the film’s wide release on September 10, 2010.

The film, which was photographed in 3D, will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology and presented in IMAX 3D. IMAX says, “The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique immersive environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.”

“In 3D, fans of ‘Resident Evil’ will have a whole new way to enjoy this next exciting chapter, and we’re delighted that audiences will also have the opportunity to experience the film in IMAX 3D at digital IMAX locations, where they will feel like they are virtually in the movie,” said Rory Bruer, President, Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing.

“Our ability to include ‘Resident Evil’ into the IMAX lineup for 2010 is a direct result of the growing IMAX theatre network, and we’re excited to work once again with Sony Pictures to reach the vast fan-base for this series,” said IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond. “Our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment is growing with our digital theatre network, and we’re looking forward to continued success with them as we open more theatres, release more event films and expand our audience globally.”

“The ‘Resident Evil’ series and IMAX share a key common ground — fanboys,” added Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. “We’re very excited to add this movie to our lineup to offer the millions of loyal ‘Resident Evil’ fans a chance to experience this next chapter in IMAX 3D.”

Here are some opinions of Wentworth from Milla and Ali about Wentworth from an interview done on the set of Resident Evil: Afterlife. I couldn’t agree more with their opinions especially Milla who says Went is a wonderful guy. I’m looking forward to seeing his future projects.

    Ali Larter says about Went:

Can you talk about working with Wentworth?

Larter: I love Wentworth. I was thrilled when they cast him. Me and him are actually really similar. We get along great. It’s another thing with this movie. There’s no catty bullshit. There’s no girl drama. There’s no ego. We like each other. Me and Milla have a blast. We talk all the time. And we support each other within these scenes. If one of us feels like we need something and, you know, we support each other’s point of view. And I also watch her. I think she’s incredible at this and I learn from her. With Wentworth, he’s coming into this from the first time and it’s like open arms. If you come into this with a desire to portray these characters in a way that the fans are going to love them, know what this is and really bring your A-game within that world, then it’s going to go down well and he’s done that.

    Milla says about Wentworth:

…Wentworth is just such a wonderful, wonderful guy. We’ve had quite a few really fun experiences. I’m sure if you guys have read the Twitter account you’ve read about him shooting Boris’ ear, which is a pretty crazy sequence. I guess Wentworth’s never fired a gun before this movie.

Even in Prison Break? I think he did.

Jovovich: I don’t think so because he was like, “Yeah, I’ve never actually pointed a gun, I’ve never actually fired a gun.” I was like, “Oh, okay.” It was kind of funny, so they went and practiced for a few minutes before the scene, ready to fire. It’s like, wow, it takes a lot to just go into the room and then in five minutes it’s like, “Okay, action.” He pulled it off. He’s really good. We’ve had a really great time just hanging out between takes and making fun of each other. We’re just constantly just having a great time imitating each other and our characters. It’s been a blast.
